Simple Pecan Pie Recipe



A deliciously rich pie that is great for any occasion. Pecan pie is a custard pie made, as you might imagine, with pecans as a the focal ingredient. It is popularly served at holiday meals and is also considered a specialty of  southern U.S. cuisine. Most pecan pie recipes include salt and vanilla as flavorings. Making Pecan Pie from scratch is a lot easier than you might think. This recipe makes a great pecan pie.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter
2/3 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup dark corn syrup
3 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups pecan halves
1 single 9-inch unbaked deep-dish pie crust

Directions:
1. Beat butter and sugar together until fluffy; then add salt, corn syrup, beaten eggs and vanilla to prepare the mixture.

2. Place a pie pan with pie crust pastry and sprinkle evenly with pecans.

3. Pour the mixture over the pecans, covering completely.

4. Bake in a very hot oven 450° F for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350° F and bake an additional 35 minutes longer or until knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

Note: Remove from oven and let the pie cool completely before serving.
