A
sapid rich pastry that is suitable for any occasion. Sultana Sugar Candy Pastry
is layers of sweet pastry with filling of sultana, sugar candy, nuts, semolina
and raisins.
Ingredients
for Pastry
- 500
grams flour
- 1
egg , beaten
- Salt
- 75
grams ghee
- cornflour
for rolling
Directions
for pastry
First mix the above ingredients
adding sufficient water to prepare the pastry, knead well and keep aside.
Ingredients
For Filling
- 500
grams crushed white sugar candy
- 125
grams semolina
- 75
grams ghee
- 75
grams cashew nuts
- 250
grams Sultanas
- Essence
of rose, almond and banana
- 75
grams raisins or dates
Directions For Filling
1.
Mix all above filling ingredients and keep aside.
2.
Cover bottom of pan with a layer of pastry, brush that layer with ghee and
cover second layer of pastry on the first layer.
3.
Spread the filling and cover with third layer of pastry and brush that layer with
ghee.
4.
Spread the filling and cover with fourth layer of pastry and brush that layer with
ghee.
5.
Cover the fourth layer with the final fifth layer of pastry.
6.
Cut through with knife to make a diamond pattern as shown in above image and spread
the balance ghee on top.
7.
Bake in oven at 350° F
until the pastry turns golden brown.
8. Boil sugar in one cup of water, add essence to
the boiled sugar syrup and pour over the baked pastry.
Note:
Remove from oven and let the pastry cool
completely before serving.
